The club is a premium martial arts facility in Edmonton, Alberta, dedicated to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We feature black belt instruction, a professional facility, and a friendly environment. The club is proud to be affiliated with Rodrigo Munduruca, world masters open weight Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. The original art was derived from the Japanese martial art of Kodokan judo in the early 20th century. Modern Jiu-Jitsu teaches that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique - most notably by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu provides students with training for basic self defence, sports grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition. Sparring plays a major role in training, and a premium is played on performance.
